Malia's Story

From being trapped by what it HAS to look like to trusting his own gifts supporting others on the path to themselves

  • What was your initial motivation for coaching?

"I was super frustrated at work, just feeling kind of beaten down, run down. I knew what I didn’t want to do, and all I wanted to do was coaching but I felt held back from it.I think working with you just gave me that push and confidence that I had someone on my team. Now I feel like I know what I need to do. I just have to do it."

  • What was holding you back from going out on your own?

  • And what do you think was the biggest sticking point we had to overcome?

"Self Doubt. I just needed to believe in myself and feel capable that I could do it. And because you were there believing in me, it helped me believe in myself.I have always struggled to see myself objectively. So having you and others reflect back who I really am was a big thing for me."

  • What was the most impactful session we had?

"The one we called 'Understanding How to Target My Dream Clients'. Yes, I remember just being on Cloud 9 because it was such a huge shift for me. We got really clear that I want to work with high-potential and high-performing people like the Serena Williams’ of the world, while also overcoming some of my fears about not being “good enough” for this demographic. There was such so much energy and knowing that “these are my people.”

  • What do you feel like you've gained through the coaching process?

"I kept thinking that there must just be another job out there, but what became more clear was that there was nothing more to search for. Coaching is what I wanted to do. I mean, I don’t remember the last time I felt this low-stress. I still have work to do but it’s just such a juxtaposition to how stressed I was in previous jobs. It’s still shocking to me how this all seems too easy in a good way. I was holding myself back for too long telling myself stories and things that may not have been true. I just had to get out of my own way."

  • And what was your biggest coaching win?

"I feel like the first big one was leaving my job. This absolutely had to happen in order for everything to happen. And that was huge. And long overdue, I mean years overdue. From there, just getting the website up and getting over some of those initial big humps was another big win. I felt like I started to really give birth to this thing."

  • Finally, what would your advice be to others who were in your position?

"You won’t know until you try. I think that sometimes we just have to take action and then you figure out how you feel about it. “Like oh, that wasn’t so hard or if I keep moving in this direction it will give me more of the information I need.”And everything is so do-overable. Just move, take action, even the smallest step forward in a direction."
